A good list

Ten Catholic women who changed the world

A really good list. What I like is that it just isn't women religious, but others, and not just celebrities, but average individuals who did special things...

(I didn't have a graphic to simply indicate that this was about women. My apologies. It was either this one or a Nun and I didn't want anyone to think this was just about Nuns.)

Veils?

Women's Head Coverings at Mass: Won't Say I Told You So, But ...

I like this comment in particular:
"Nothing fills up a combox faster than the topics of (a)veils, (b)Father Corapi, and (c)whether dogs go to heaven."
SWMBO - don't bother to read the comments, but the article is fine.

It is ironic...

Another human-rights irony at the U.N.

"President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad campaigned in Uganda and Zimbabwe. Behind the scenes, his flunkies twisted arms and offered favors."
But isn't all of life? (Joke!)

So,

they're starting to recognize something?

Abuse cases show need for greater women’s role, Vatican newspaper says

Or at least someone's opinion. Are women going to be rehabilitated by the Vatican now? First Galileo, now women. Phew! They're speeding right along...

(Sorry, I'm coming down with a cold and my cynical nature is coming out...)

More Anglicans

will be moving over into the loving arms of Mother Church and the Pope.

Anglicans split over election of lesbian bishop

Along with this, though, if more people, and particularly more married priests, move to the Catholic Church, one has to wonder what effect that will have on Catholicism. An influx of married priests who are in communion with Rome and remain priests and married may bode well for the laws restricting Catholic priests to celibacy. On the other hand, that's really too simplistic and idea. Nothing is simple in the Catholic Church...

Just one woman

Stop Looking at Me Like That

"In search of the new Muslim woman."

*Sigh*

Priest takes church to task for not ordaining women

"Won’t recant despite excommunication"
It doesn't really matter anymore. Being excommunicated from the Catholic Church seems to have little effect on people. He'll just go on doing what he's doing anyway.

I cannot believe

these Muslim clerics...

Saudi women face gyms ban

"Action taken to shut down unlicensed, all-women fitness clubs, condemned as 'shameless' by Saudi Arabia's clerics"
These are 'all-women' fitness centres. There's no men involved. How 'shameless' can it be?

I guess they don't care if the Saudi women get overweight and unhealthy - if they're overweight the men can just marry younger, more fit women, and if they die young because they're unfit, well, the men can just marry younger, more fit women. Besides, being overweight is good because then they're less of a temptation to the poor, helpless, weak males who are unable to control their urges. It seems a win-win situation for this society of misogynistic male clerics...

So, she

used rape to defile these women so that their only hope of salvation was to die as a suicide bomber:

Iraqi woman had 80 women raped then recruited as suicide bombers

Are we going to hear some sort of hue and cry from the people who objected so violently to the artist's cartoons about their Prophet, or is this just another day, another dead female? Where are their leaders? Where is their humanity? If nothing else, someone has to deal about the cowardly men who demand this sort of thing to help their 'cause'...
