Such an inspiration

Malala delivers defiant riposte to Taliban militants as UN hails 'our hero'

"'They thought that the bullet would silence us. But they failed,' says Malala, 16, at UN to push campaign for girls' education"

This young woman is someone who was probably thrust into a limelight that she didn't desire. She has certainly taken up her role with conviction and courage. She has suffered so much already due to the actions of the violent Islamist cowards in her home country. I do hope she can stay safe and healthy, protected from the fanatics. Words against bullets...

I reiterate...

...how to win friends and influence people.
(That is, if the authorities are correct in who they believe in responsible - student protestors.)

Smoke bombs shut down Montreal's metro system

I think it's not the main group of student activists responsible but the fringe group that is always involved in these sort of protests - the anarchists, revolutionaries, etc., who always take advantage of a protest to stuff their radical acts in with the rest, probably hoping to achieve their ends on the backs of those who are peacefully protesting. I haven't much use for them myself. I feel more strongly called to the peaceful path rather than the path of violence and chaos...

So,

because he has been critical of election irregularities and possible fraud in Malasia, a newspaper (with who knows what connections to the ruling party, or what they may have been pressured to do by a certain criminal cult) essentially sets Senator Xenophon up for a terrorist attack by deliberately changing a speech critical of a criminally-convicted cult to be critical of Islam. This was really no accident.

Security fears for Xenophon over religious misunderstanding

I fear that once you get a group of extremists riled up it's impossible to stop them all from acting violently. I think a nice lawsuit would fit perfectly here, and would allow him to find out who instigated it. If a certain cult had a hand in it, well...

Yes,

this is a example of awful disrespect for human beings, and it really can't be excused.

Afghan president condemns U.S. marines urination video

Keep in mind the whole list of who is complaining, though. Many are the same people who behead journalists on video and share it with the world. Then you'll be able to realize that it's all propoganda, that it's all political. People who are offended by this should not be doing the other.

People who live in glass houses, etc., etc....

This isn't

a Catholic Bishop, but a bishop of another Christian denomination.

Muslim Extremists in Uganda Throw Acid on Bishop

And they claim to be a peaceful religion. I really am horrified by their violence...

So terrible!

Ohio shooting of girl in Amish buggy a homicide

A 15-year-old girl from a religious group dedicated to peaceful religious values. Despite the fact that this type of violence is the act of a violent, immoral, insane (though perhaps not clinically insane) person in the first place, who would do this to a helpless individual like this? I guess I just answered my own question.

Lord, I pray that she is resting peacefully in your arms, and that you bless her community with the same peace and forgiveness that you have given them in the past...

As a fan

of the recreational use of guns, target shooting and shooting in general, part of me gets excited by something like this.

Shoot: An exercise in recreational destruction.

Then, after thinking about it for a minute, I wonder what on earth they were doing, and what good it served. My supposed knee-jerk lefty response takes a few moments to surface when I'm confronted with a childhood dream of shooting the sh*t out of inanimate objects.

Then I'm better again. *Whew!*

We have it so good here

Lord, have mercy on them and protect them! They need our prayers, and our intervention through our politicians...

Possibly

but we'll never really know...

Jack the Ripper May Have Been a London Abortion Practitioner

A couple of comments about the writing. The author of the article states that Dr. John Williams 'fled' London after the Ripper murders, but doesn't state why. Perhaps he simply 'left' London, as many people have over the centuries? Second, the article states that they found the surgeon's knife and
"samples of uterine tissue belonging to Sir John Williams"
Well, OK, but were the samples property of his, or were they from him? :-) Bad terminology there.

Hint: Get a new editor and don't rely on spell-checkers...

Ummm...

London shooting: Victim 'was holding her baby son'
"A teenager holding her 11-month-old son was injured when she came under fire from a shotgun as she chatted to two friends in west London."
And the perpetrators took off on bicycles. Bicycles? What, they're too young to drive so it would be illegal? As if shooting someone isn't? And I thought gangs were getting bad in Canada...

I'm glad the people who were shot at will be ok, and that the innocent child wasn't hurt.

I guess things aren't all sunshine and light

in Africa, at the orphanage of this scary fellow...

'Machine Gun Preacher' Under Heavy Fire

"Sam Childers, subject of a new movie, is accused of neglecting children at his orphanage in South Sudan."

He's a controversial figures. What is the truth?

What a terrible thing!

‘Traditionalist Catholics’ Attack, Expel Christians

Apparently the 'traditional' refers to something different than what we would call 'traditional', but none-the-less, this treatment is barbaric and what Catholics have come to expect from others. This behaviour is terrible!

I heard this program

It's really quite good and very much worth a listen. It certainly gets you thinking...

Isn't it incredible

how many different groups these people hate and commit violence against...

A good perspective

on a disturbing film...

Are You Not Entertained? "Hanna" and Remorseless Violence

"The film "Hanna" represents a trend in recent movies that celebrate violence for their sheer entertainment value, without any moral qualms."
That's the concern. The violence isn't done to grotesque CGI aliens, but real human beings. It's an awful trend in film...

Sure

Koran pastor 'not responsible' for UN deaths in Afghanistan

"Thousands of protesters in northern Afghanistan, enraged over news that an American Christian preacher had overseen a torching of the Koran, stormed a United Nations compound, killing at least seven UN staff."
Of course he's not responsible. He wouldn't think he was in any case. In the minds of a lot of people in the world he's wrong, though, just as he was wrong in the first place to burn the book.
