Well,

if it is a doomsday cult, then they should realize that they can't take it with them, no?

Agape doomsday cult's financial empire dismantled, ordered to pay taxman $3 million

Isn't that right?

Talk about...

...a sense of entitlement.

A JUMBO tantrum over first-class pyjamas has held up a Qantas flight to Melbourne.

Of course, you're still paying a huge amount of money for the flight, so I guess it should include proper sized jumbo pyjamas. The funny part is that these passengers demanded that the crew announce the reason for the delay. As if everyone would sympathize. Heh.

The lawsuit is on the way, I'm sure...

These cult leaders!

Disabled woman wins $500,000 payout from Rocco Leo's Agape Ministries doomsday cult

They may really start out believing their own claims, but at some point of ripping off their followers I really think they come to believe that they're just ripping off their followers. It doesn't make sense otherwise...

So,

because he has been critical of election irregularities and possible fraud in Malasia, a newspaper (with who knows what connections to the ruling party, or what they may have been pressured to do by a certain criminal cult) essentially sets Senator Xenophon up for a terrorist attack by deliberately changing a speech critical of a criminally-convicted cult to be critical of Islam. This was really no accident.

Security fears for Xenophon over religious misunderstanding

I fear that once you get a group of extremists riled up it's impossible to stop them all from acting violently. I think a nice lawsuit would fit perfectly here, and would allow him to find out who instigated it. If a certain cult had a hand in it, well...

More of the same

Minister criticises Scientology campaign

The cult of Scientology created this 'commission' specifically to target psychology and psychiatry for abusive campaigns and acts that may even be criminal, simply because years ago the medical people in this field refused to accept Hubbard's teachings as the solution for all humankind's problems. It doesn't even solve their own problems. They spend all their time attacking other people and trying to convince people to believe them (For a price. Always for a price.). And so the battle continues to this day...

This isn't surprising

Scientologist charged for 'intimidating' alleged sex abuse victim

Ex-members have alleged this sort of thing for many years, and it has been claimed that Scientology has intimidated many members and ex-members into silence for many things. It's a proof that the internet has had a real and significant effect on the way Scientology operates that someone is charging a high-ranking member publicly. It's a good thing.

From the always interesting

and delightful Catholic and Enjoying it! comes a link to an article by a philospher about a fad that is sweeping Australia. Given the reach of the intertubes, it's not to be long before it hits here, I would suspect.

I plank, therefore I am

"A philosopher reflects on the craze for “planking” in the strangest places."

A useless fad, as so many fads are, yet a fad that some people take to extremes, with extreme consequence...

A modern geoglyph

The Marree Man: Mystery artwork in the desert

The really interesting thing is the reaction of the authorities. It appears that they consider it a desecration of natural habitat and will let it erode back to nature. Just think what we would have if the people who created the ancient geoglyphs had decided that their work was desecration and destruction of natural habitat. We wouldn't have any of the ancient works of art that we see in nature to wonder at and about. We've come a long way, baby...

This sort of group

is the perfect opportunity for dysfunctional people to grab power and control people. They're bullies, and they support each other in their behaviour.

Now they'll be doing all that they can

to harrass, intimidate and, in any other way, cause problems for Australia's 'Australian of the Year', to get him to shut up and retrack his comments.

Scientology 'putting lives at risk'

"Australian of the Year Professor Patrick McGorry has thrown his weight behind calls for a Senate inquiry into the Church of Scientology, saying the church's teachings are putting Australians' lives at risk."
I hope he's very careful and watches around himself. Scientology has a long history of dirty tricks and illegal acts toward critics...

Good for him!

Scientology critic adds volume to inquiry call

Mr. Armstrong has the history, and, as a result, the authority to truly criticize Scientology for their lies, deceit and crimes. Good for him!

Another group of Catholics

know who is in proper standing with the Church and who isn't. I wonder if they agree with those other groups who claim the same thing?

Kevin Rudd's communion at Blessed Mary MacKillop's Chapel troubles church

"Kevin Rudd's decision to take holy communion at the Blessed Mary MacKillop's Chapel in Sydney on Sunday posed a dilemma for the chaplain and the Sisters of St Joseph. "
No, probably not...

They've had time,

since they were last banned in Australia, to dig up things on the members of the senate to pressure them...

Probe into Scientology rejected

I think it will be discovered that the same thing has been done to the police and members of other investigative bodies. It's been done by Scientology before. It's why their OSA exists...

One wishes

that the media in Australia had something new to say on this...

Police investigate Scientology

There's two problems with this whole thing. First, you're dealing with a government, so there's a lot of posturing, feet-dragging and jockeying for best political position in the issue. Second, you can believe that Scientology's Office of Special Affairs (OSA, their dirty tricks and espionage group) have spent lots of time prior to this digging up dirt on politicians in order to have something on them in the event something like this ever happened. They've done this in the past. There's no reason to believe that they won't do it again. OSA and the CIA should get together and share techniques...

Other media sources are picking the stories up

More Heavy Seas Threaten the Future of Scientology

"November has not been a good month for Scientologists with a new book and a new opponent in the Australian Parliament exposing their claims."
Scientology will certainly be in court trying to stop the book. They've tried it before. I must get a copy as soon as I can.

On another note, isn't the politician's name cool? Xenophon. It's very close to 'Xenu'phon, and consequently perhaps just the person to take them on in Australia...
