Such a peaceful, friendly religion

'Gay people should get the death penalty’: Five Muslim men on trial for stirring up hatred after 'handing out homophobic leaflets near mosque'

Sigh. What is left to say? While this is a small group, how many other Muslims in England (and around the world) feel like sentiments? It seems that their whole approach to the world is to kill anyone who doesn't believe as they do. And they want people to respect their beliefs?

So very sad...

I'm getting tired

of reading of and hearing people say that something someone else has said is 'hurtful', suggesting that therefore they shouldn't say it, because it might hurt someone's feelings. Anything someone says might hurt someone else's feelings. That doesn't make it a crime, or hateful.

Cardinal Francis George Warns That Chicago Gay Pride Parade Might 'Morph Into Ku Klux Klan'

They want to be respected. Are they going to parade past the church in a respectful manner or are they going to mock the Church, dress in clothes that are deliberately provocative, dress like gay nuns, and so on? The things they usually do at these parades? If they do, then they're the ones being hurtful. But that's OK because they're gay and Catholic bashing is an acceptable action. Hating Catholics is the last acceptable prejudice...

This really raises some questions...

Psychiatrist says disgraced Bishop Lahey not a pedophile

I'm staying away from the whole pedophilia issue. I'm just wondering about the Bishop's stable 10-year gay marriage. One can speculate that if the images weren't found on his computer (and he may even have set himself up for that, in some twisted way) he would have continued his role in the Church and continue his stable, committed, gay relationship, people being none the wiser. I'm struggling with the issue here...

A prominent preacher of the Prosperity Gospel

is about to find that prosperity is fleeting...

Eddie Long on sabbatical as divorce proceeds

Is there ever a pile of issues here! Like other ministers railing against all things gay, it seems he's a bit conflicted about the issue himself. Now it's going to cost him his prosperity. Permanent alimony, at that end of the pay scale, will likely be quite a bit, particularly if he's losing his following...

Being mean for Jesus

This sounds like a great film.

Fairness?

So many people

don't understand that tolerance of people and their opinions extends both ways.

Vatican tells UN that critics of gays under attack

The idea seems to be that 'you have to accept and allow my opinions, but yours are wrong and aren't to be tolerated'. Really, whether a person agrees with the Church's opinion on homosexual relationships or not, others should be tolerant of their position, in a society of tolerance. Instead, they're vilified and charged with 'hate crimes', while those who hate and 'preach' against Catholics and Christians have to have their opinions tolerated. There is an certain inequity there, no matter what you think of this particular issue...

Bwa-ha-ha-ha-ha!

Priceless Tattoo

Talk about an extreme example of what is known as 'proof-texting'! This is one of the funniest I've ever seen - and I'd laugh in a more than a maniacal manner if it weren't just so homophobic!

(What is it about all these tattoo posts lately? I seem to be running into tattoo articles everywhere. I know that they're trendy, but their trendiness is almost over, and the number of articles should be diminishing. I wonder what this means?)

It's not a matter of legislating them away...

...but rather facing their ignorance and arrognance with peaceful...not protest, but protection... for the mourners.

Westboro picketers outnumbered at Elizabeth Edwards funeral

They won't be beaten with the law, or with forceful reaction, but rather, the peaceful presence of God's Holy Spirit, the Spirit in action.

They hate so much...

States Line Up Against Funeral Hecklers in Supreme Court Brief

"Fred Phelps' Westboro Baptist Church Picketed Marine's Funeral; Court to Decide if Protest Was Free Speech"
How far does society and the law go to protect the free speech rights of these people to spread their brand of vitriol and hatred? If anyone were to do this over the telephone, or to an individual, they'd be arrested for harassment immediately, but because the Phelps family is full of lawyers who can keep anything tied up in court for decades, costing the State and individuals millions of dollars, nothing is done...

It's a bomb for the diocese all right...

"The Catholic Church Is The Closet Of Gays", Colombian Priest Writes In His Book

"Out of frustration at episcopal inaction, a priest of the Colombian archdiocese of Cali, has written a book on the ongoing homosexual scandals among priests of the archdiocese. "
...especially the part about all these gay priests fathering children...

The Catholic Church all over the world is going to go through a time of fire, I think...

There appears to be

more than one reason he's being banned.

Elton John Banned in Egypt Over Remarks About Jesus

I don't know that is was just his remarks about Jesus. I think it's more his very outgoing gay lifestyle that got him in trouble...

*Sigh*

I wonder if the plays author is gay...

Anti-Catholic Hate Speech at Tarleton State University

"Jesus is depicted as the "King of the Queers" who says to the apostles, "F--- your mother, F--- your father, F--- God.""
I ask that only because, as SWMBO and I have discussed many times in the past, the gay community seems to seriously push the envelope in their depictions of themselves some times, and then try to see if they're still accepted or if there's any backlash.

I think of some of the parades I've seen news reports of and they seem to go out of their way to push people's buttons, to mock straight institutions and beliefs and push sexual boundaries, but then want to be accepted as normal. It's a very unusual thing...

Ah, well... the last acceptable prejudice is to be prejudiced against Catholics...

Wednesday, March 03, 2010

I think

he should stick to music and let the historians and theologians discuss the details about Jesus and his life...

Sir Elton John says Jesus was super-intelligent gay man

Uh-huh...

But he's done some terrific music during his life, I must admit. Still, that only makes him talented in music, not a specialist in all areas of life. I hate the way people idolize celebrities...

People

always want others to be perfect, no matter how good they are, and their perfection has to be in accord with the observer's own beliefs.

The Salvation Army - naughty or nice?

Well, they may as well shut down the disaster relief services, hostels, food programs, drug treatment, HIV programs, etc., etc.. Their religious beliefs (which everyone is allowed unless they conflict with certain politically correct segments of society) have been judged, found wanting, and, in the minds of the observers, the bad certainly must outweigh the good...

One thing

that the Catholic Church is terrible at is accepting anyone who doesn't fit neatly into one of their main target groups - married couples with childen, ie. families, and those in the process of accepting a defined vocation, either as priest, religious, single person (always with the view to marriage in the future, of course) or senior whose family has grown and left home.

Gays reject Catholic church's attempt to 'cure' them

If you're gay, lesbian, a single mother (or father), young married couple without children or older couple who has never had children, the Church doesn't have much time, or very many programs or resources, to minister to you with or through. You're essentially a non-person to the Church. You're on your own...

(Having experienced this myself, and still finding it that way in some respects, this has become a very sore point with me...)

Without taking sides on the issue

I would think that allowing gay marriage in order to make gay breakups easier is the worst possible reason for making gay marriage legal...

Gay breakups hard to do

Really.
