A Secular Franciscan looks at the world...

One thing

that the Catholic Church is terrible at is accepting anyone who doesn't fit neatly into one of their main target groups - married couples with childen, ie. families, and those in the process of accepting a defined vocation, either as priest, religious, single person (always with the view to marriage in the future, of course) or senior whose family has grown and left home.

Gays reject Catholic church's attempt to 'cure' them

If you're gay, lesbian, a single mother (or father), young married couple without children or older couple who has never had children, the Church doesn't have much time, or very many programs or resources, to minister to you with or through. You're essentially a non-person to the Church. You're on your own...

(Having experienced this myself, and still finding it that way in some respects, this has become a very sore point with me...)
