Does this priest

not have any authority over him?

Controversial Polish priest to build spa and aquapark

This news 'article' is really just one of those 'sound-bite articles' that I really dislike so much. It tells you nothing. What's his history? What church is he a priest in? Roman? Orthodox? Protestant? This is really news for those who can't concentrate for over 20 seconds. 'News' for those with ADD, I guess...

If the Gilbert folks

support the books, there has to be something positive in their favour.

Try Something New

If the 'Gilberts' support Ms. Rowling's work, then one would have to work hard to present an argument against them. Catholic supporters of Chesterton's works have been, in my experience, truly intelligent, faithful Catholic Christians, not easily mislead by things and certainly intelligent enough to determine if something is harmful or will undermine the faith of those who read it. Perhaps it is time for the critics to actually read the books. They may not be to their taste (not every book in every genre is to everyone's taste) but they may find that they're not evil, nor are they the first step on the 'slippery slope'...

How did she get where she is?

Palin Joins Debate on Heated Speech With Words That Stir New Controversy

She can't open her mouth without inserting her foot, or, in most cases, simply changing feet. While I have to say that I enjoy the comedic entertainment provided by Ms. Palin, I can't help but be worried by the fact that she seems to have a certain amount of support, and this is in a country that is a) connected to us by a border and b) has nuclear capabilities. I might be anticipating too much, but I worry about the U.S. electorate and their ability to be duped by their 'wild west' candidates...

Who knows all the issues here?

Santa Cruz's 'Red Church' minister certain he'll keep his job: Father Joel Miller still under fire for handling of homeless outreach

Who's right and who's wrong? What's the whole story? There seems to be a lot missing here, things we're not seeing. I wonder, too, how much of this might be a 'not in my back yard' reaction?

Trying to act as Jesus would act doesn't always garner a great deal of support, too.

I'm not surprised

The Traditionalist camp has never had Christian charity at their hearts for anyone who disagrees with them:

LifeSite accused of fuelling web war on Salt+Light

And some of the anti-abortion crowd have been know to even kill pro-abortionists. (Somehow, I don't even find it difficult to see some of the LifeSite crowd high-fiving it when the killing of a doctor who provides abortion occurs. They really never seem to have God's love in their hearts, only justice and wrath)...
