You know,

compared to most other photos I've seen of things supposedly looking like someone or something, this cloud formation really does look like an angel.

'Angel cloud' spotted in South Florida sky this morning, send in your photos

That's really pretty neat!

I believe

in miracles and in angels. I'm not overly fond of pink t-shirts, though.

Miracle or medicine? A throat cancer patient's life-changing encounter

We'll never know what it was because he has already receiving treatment. Still, God heals through that, too. It could have been an angel. I'm surprised that God didn't send a more literate one, though...

A story about awareness

which might just include an angel...

Message from an angel

There are lots of things to consider, but I think angels are more active in our world than we think (And I'm not one of those angel folk who believe in them but can't seem to believe in God somehow. I do try to keep angels in their proper place in my mind and beliefs).

I mean, what more likely a place to see an angel but in a hospital?

We all have stories

that could be called 'Angel stories' if we think back on our lives.

Angel to the Rescue

Angel stories transcend religious boundaries. They seem to be found in most cultures and most faiths. There must be a reason for that. Angels seem to be the usual way that God interacts directly with humans. Still, so many people focus on angels that there's a danger that they will lose sight of the necessary focus of their faith. It's something to guard against...

Church charges for calls to mobile phone-carrying angel

Heh, heh, heh, heh...

(Though I would rather see a gargoyle on a cell phone on the cathedral ramparts rather than an angel.)

I believe in them

Belief in guardian angels rooted in experience

I also believe that my poor Guardian Angel is kept so busy that there must be multiple ones to spell each other off. Some people are easier to watch over than others. Some people make bad decisions and make life difficult for their helpers...

For you Angel folk out there,

here's some interesting information on Angels that puts forth some Catholic tradition on Angels that doesn't contradict Scripture, but which, while Scriptural, may be extrapolated from it rather than directly stated...

Thinning the Veil

I believe that Angels can very often be the 'strong hand of God' involved in our world today, and I think that Angels associated or assigned to me work very, very, very hard. Mostly fro my Guardian Angel I expect slaps upside my head with 'what were you thinking' accompanying them...

I feel quite sorry for my Guardian Angel. After me, my Guardian Angel will be rewarded with an aeon or two off for such hard, challenging and dangerous work...

Ah! Thank you!

.Fr. Dwight Longenecker on Encounters with Angels

"Angels appear in the Bible story from the first pages of Genesis right through to the final pages of the Book of Revelation"
Someone finally posts a good, Catholic, approach to the reality of the existence of Angels! Thanks you, Fr. Dwight!

True stories

AngelNook Publishing Seeking True Angel Stories for Planned Angel Digest Publication

I hope they believe in God, too.

Why is this company asking for stories from people so that they can publish a book and make money off of it, but the people who contribute stories won't be compensated for their contributions? That's doesn't seem right. Still, what I find most interesting in this little blurb is the comment that the company is requesting 'true' angel stories. How are they going to determine the veracity of the stories? Just wondering...

Not your usual 'angel' article...

Christmas Unwrapped: How angels fell from their pedestals

"New Agers may claim angels and resort to them, but what’s the point really?” said Father Michael Patella, a professor at St. John’s College in Minnesota. “Unless these angels are pointing to some larger purpose, turning to them is just as futile as trusting in a rabbit’s foot."
It's an article that focuses mainly on the change in attitude toward angels and with people who take them seriously - in their traditional sense. It's really, surprisingly, quite good.

There seems to be

no problem promoting angels in the secular world.

Spreading News of Angels: Group Succeeds at Promoting Angelology

It wouldn't hurt the Church to give a bit more focus or information to the general laity about the Church teachings regarding angels. It should counter the fluffy generic angel ideas of the secular and 'new age' part of our culture that sees angels existing just by themselves, with no reference to God.

That's one of my little pet peeves - people who refuse to believe in a personal God (instead believing in some amorphous universal power or entity of some sort) but have no problem believing in personal angels, and that these beings exist somehow for their benefit...

Finally.

A film critic who sees this film for what it really is rather than what they would like it to be...

Legion: The Buzz review

Really. It's a popcorn flick. Just like the Terminator franchise of films...

Most of us

never get a direct experience with our guardian angel...

It happened to me: My guardian angel saved my life

Or, perhaps, most of us are never consciously aware of our guardian angel. Most people, if pressed, could tell a story of some unusual circumstance which could be the help of one...

I think

that the purity of children would make it even easier for God's messengers to be in touch with them.

Don't judge children's angel voices: Conference told

I really think that their pure souls could allow that to happen.

Actually,

my Guardian Angel works overtime...

Dropped by an angel: Has your 'guardian' missed a beat?

I think that I'm most often not aware enough or grateful enough for God's protection through my Guardian Angel...

Well...

it's a timely thing, this interview, as it corresponds nicely with the publishing of her book...

Lorna Byrne and the Angels in Her Hair: Talking with a modern day Irish mystic

Modern day 'self-proclaimed' Irish mystic. The Church hasn't even investigated anything, let alone made a statement on it.

I bought her book when it was first released. While I believe in angels, and guardian angels, and God's working through them in this world (Scripture makes a point of keeping them in front of us, both the Old Testament and the New Testament), I still feel kind of odd while reading her book. Yes, I'm a bit 'from Missouri' on lots of issues like this, but I just couldn't pin down the 'why' of her seeing angels. Why would God give someone a gift like this when so much of it seems mundane and trivial? Why is she given this gift when no one else, in my reading, has seen angels in such numbers all the time? It just feels off to me. Perhaps that's just me...

I very highly doubt

that my Guardian Angel has any time for bowling...

Tuesday, December 30, 2008

Is it an angel?

Who knows? What is evident is that her whole life is a miracle.

Photo captures image of an 'angel' in hospital hallway

What we should do is pray for her and her family...

I believe in them

Believers recall visits from 'heavenly helpers'

It seems that the Christmas season brings the stories about them out every year. We can call it the "It's a Wonderful Life" effect...

In fact,

I find it funny how many people have a strong and clear belief in angels while being uncertain on the existence of God.

Do Angels Exist?

(The article is American, hence the American stats...)
