It just seems odd

'Jesus Ween': Christian Group Promotes Godly Alternative To Halloween

My contemporaries and I lived through yearly Hallowe'ens without becoming the anti-Christ, and while I admit that society has changed and its affection for ugly and nasty is greater than it used to be (we'd rather have dressed up as Batman or a tramp than a witch or devil or zombie) this certainly gives credence to the idea of taking a pagan holiday (I think it's become pagan - the earlier connection to All Soul's Day and All Saint's Day is lost) and making it 'Christian'...

Today, at 8:30 p.m.,

shut all your lights (and other electrical appliances) off for

Earth Hour.

Ol' Mom Earth really can use our support...

A special day...

Happy Birthday, Paul. It's been a long time, but you were a terrific friend, and I miss you and the good times we had. You live so far away now that we can't get together. I wish and pray for every good thing for you, Kim and all your family. God bless!

To remember the sacrifices...

...from all the wars the world over
and especially for Canadian Service Personnel...

In Flanders Field

In Flanders fields the poppies blow
Between the crosses, row on row,
That mark our place: and in the sky
The larks, still bravely singing, fly
Scarce heard amid the guns below.

We are the Dead. Short days ago
We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow,
Loved and were loved, and now we lie,
In Flanders fields.

Take up our quarrel with the foe:
To you from failing hands we throw
The torch: be yours to hold it high.
If ye break faith with us who die
We shall not sleep, though poppies grow
In Flanders fields.
