My contemporaries and I lived through yearly Hallowe'ens without becoming the anti-Christ, and while I admit that society has changed and its affection for ugly and nasty is greater than it used to be (we'd rather have dressed up as Batman or a tramp than a witch or devil or zombie) this certainly gives credence to the idea of taking a pagan holiday (I think it's become pagan - the earlier connection to All Soul's Day and All Saint's Day is lost) and making it 'Christian'...
