Today

in Canada, we're celebrating

Labour Day.

We've celebrated it on the first Monday in September since the 1880s, but it's beginning to mean less and less. Today, many stores and shops are still open on Labour Day, with business dictating what the day will be and only those employers who really care about their workers, or unionized workplaces, really celebrate the holiday. It's a very sad testament to what is happening in the working world...

So they outlaw Christmas music of a religious/spiritual nature and allow secular Christmas music? How sick can one get of 'I Saw Mommy Kissing Santa Claus'?

Why do they even allow the holiday to take place then? Why not keep the schools open? The American fear of all things religious sure has made them do really dumb things by interpreting the separation of Church and State in ways it was never meant to be interpreted.

Why don't they call it 'Leprechaun Day'? At least that's more interesting. Unless the people making these silly changes have a special affection for shamrocks, that is. I agree with the person quoted in the article. What will these people do with Rosh Hoshanah?
