This sounds interesting

The fifth gospel

People always say that we may be the only church, or the only Jesus (Jesus in us), or the only bible, that people ever come in contact with. It only makes sense, then, that the lives of all of us 'only' people would be Gospel to others...

Common names

Ancient Burial Box Linked to Priest Who Played Part in Christ's Crucifixion

Very common names? Perhaps, but I would find it odd if the Caiaphus mentioned in the Gospels would name his son 'Jeshua' (or what becomes in English 'Jesus') unless he did it before the trial and execution of another, more famous Yeshua. It would be even greater coincidence if this Yeshua named his daughter Miriam, or Mary. It just seems too coincidental to believe. What are the odds?

A saintly point

Peter and Paul

We need good scholarship, that's very true, but we also need a good understanding of the Gospel from the lives of the saints. That's where the living Gospel is.

(I love his reference to 'metaphorical phantasmagorical criticism' Heh.)

An absolutely beautiful

9th century illuminated manuscript...

Codex Aureus - 9th Century Carolingian Gospel

(There's a link to the original web source for the photos, presumably with more photographs, at the bottom of the page. It wasn't responding when I tried...)

A terrific radio program

Yesterday, I was listening to a radio program called 'Tapestry' on
CBC Radio 1 on the history of Gospel Music. The real, traditional Gospel Music, and Gospel performers. The guest was the author of People Get Ready! A New History of Black Gospel Music, Robert Darden (whose book looks like a wonderful read), and the music was beautiful and the program itself was fascinating! The history of Gospel Music is SO interesting!

(Do you know what 'Gospel Chicken' is? Bologna. Really. I didn't know that!)

It is 'another gospel'...

Theologian: Most Christians Infected with Prosperity Gospel

I think that the 'Prosperity Gospel' is one of those 'other gospels' that scripture warns us about. It's certainly not the Gospel of Jesus Christ, and I think that it is outrageous to say that it is...

Moo

Charlotte Megachurch Goes 'Cow Tipping'

"We must pass judgment on sin but we need to start with ourselves ... not with groups of people and marginalizing them so that they don't even want to hear the message of Christ that we have to offer"
I'm generally not a big fan of mega-churches, mostly because they seem to be most about keeping themselves a mega-church by keeping their followers happy. That doesn't always include tackling the hard things. Tackling the hard things is good on them in this case...
