We watched

a film the other night, a documentary, that SWMBO hadn't seen before:

The Eyes of Tammy Faye

Her world was a different world from most of the folks I know (besides simply the money, of course). The world of the evangelical Christian, with televangelists, theme parks and television satellites, is something that is completely foreign to my life. I used to watch Jim and Tammy Faye on television, simply because I was astounded by them and their adherents. I couldn't believe it (might be my prairie Catholicism or something).

Still, SWMBO came away with a completely different picture of Tammy Faye after watching it, which I share. It's a film that bears watching, though some of it is kind of hard to believe, and hard to take. Still, I think it's a different world from ours and I don't think that the guilty parties in that whole scandal were so intentionally criminal. Perhaps just sinful, but I'm not the one to judge that. But, boy, wasn't that Jerry Falwell a slimy piece of work?
