So, are they saying


that it is growing quickly again, or is still continuing to grow as it has over the years?

Charismatic movement growing quickly worldwide

The Charismatic Movement in the Catholic Church started at the beginning of the 1970s, so it already has a history of some duration. After growing quickly it went into a decline, for a lot of reasons. I expect what the writer of the headline is trying to say is that it is growing quickly again. They may also mean that it is growing outside of the Catholic Church and attracting Catholics, and that may well be true also...

W-e-e-e-e-e-e-l-l-l-l-l-l...

...it's something that there doesn't seem to be much of a middle ground about in the mainline churches. I'm not talking about Pentecostals, who are not in the picture in Protestant or Catholic church life, but rather of Charismatics. In my experience people I know either love them or hate them (or rather, the movement, or perhaps both) for many and varied reasons. My experience? I think it is valid and for some people a true blessing. God's gifts and experiences are many and varied. I have met some of the most wonderful people I've ever known who were active in the Charismatic Renewal, and I've met some the people I have the most trouble with. In other words, it's like everything else. There's nothing new under God's sun...

Despite the wrong turns,


excesses, errors and misused authority that have happened in the Catholic Charismatic Renewal in various places over the years, it has truly been a life-saver for many people and and answer to many people's prayers. These problems have not been unique to the Charismatic Renewal, but are part of the growth of many groups. Unfortunately, it has to have human beings in it, which is the first problem that leads to others...
