advertised as a public event, this could be worrisome, law-wise. If the family were accused of promoting hatred it could get even more ugly.Bible-Dispensing Family Arrested At Pride Festival
SWMBO and I were just discussing this the other night. When the GLBTetc. community gather together for a festival like this a lot of the people go all out to be as shocking and unusual as possible. I think a lot of straight people see this as the GLBTetc. community rubbing their freedom in their faces and showing how different (in an extreme sense) they are. It's then pretty difficult for them to argue that 'they're just like everyone else'. So in that sense they're themselves responsible for some of the attitudes toward them. They're certainly not working hard to repair things but flaunting their legal protection. It doesn't make for a safer community in some ways. This isn't really a criticism, simply a comment. People seem to have come to expect this sort of thing, so it's given to them. Not a really constructive thing, I don't think. My $0.02...
