that I agree with completely...

The French Connection: shock of the old

"William Friedkin's 1971 thriller set in New York is nihilistic, unapologetic and even racist. But it still feels contemporary"
The article makes passing reference to two other films I think are genre classics, Mean Streets and Taxi Driver.
