One of THOSE weekends...

Well, SWMBO received her iPad. She got a new cover for it. We couldn't get the iPad to be recognized by her system, so we upgraded her OS to the latest Snow Leopard version. It STILL wouldn't recognize it. We finally compromised by syncing it to my system, which will be no problem as I haven't got an iPad, so there's no conflict. THEN we found that her scanner wouldn't work with the new OS (it's an older Epson model scanner). At about midnight last night I installed my scanner on her system (it's a newer Epson model scanner) and it worked fine. So today I went and bought myself a new scanner. It's not an upgrade for me, really, as it's pretty much the model that replaced the one that SWMBO now has. They both have the same features and everything.

Still, if you have any experience with computer things, you can relate to the frustration one feels when you've done everything correctly and the thing STILL doesn't work. There's no reason for it not to work, just conflicts at a level that the user can't see and certainly can't fix. Not a very restful weekend at all...

weird. I have an incredibly old scanner! These things aren't supposed to happen to Apple users!

For some reason it did. I properly removed the old drivers, re-installed the new drivers, restarted, everything, and everything multiple times. I would say that they're not supposed to happen either, but for some reason it did. In this case it's likely just because it's me doing it...
