Perhaps only of interest to those who have more than a passing interest in Judaism.

In Defense of the Online Minyan

One person (Wired Bill) asks in his comment 'where's the community', and he's correct. One of the reason for worship in group setting is community. In this case it is lost, mostly. More people deny the existence of 'community' in social networking than confirm its existence...

Yes. I've been very glad for online "communities" because there seems to be no other way to keep in touch with distant or busy friends, but the time investment in the online version does seem to come at some expense to the real thing.
