Who knows

what the whole story is. We're only hearing one side, but if I have to believe anyone it'll be the people who are making the claims.

Canadian tourist accuses Mexican police of raping her

"Police deny reports woman beaten, repeatedly raped, robbed"
What I can't understand is why people persist in going to Mexico for vacations. Mexico, whether the criminal element of the officials, has always shown itself to be terribly corrupt. It has always been a risky place to visit if you don't stay on the actual resorts. Why do people keep going there? The politicians were murdering Catholic priests into the 1920s. The drug cartels have more power than the government. If Mexico didn't have a free trade agreement with the U.S., and such a huge common border, I'm sure the U.S. would consider them a failed state...
