I'm waiting

for two DVDs I've ordered. I'm really looking forward to them, and will likely give my opinions of them here after they arrive and I've seen them.

The first is Fallen Angel: the Outlaw Larry Norman. This film is by David Di Sabatino, someone I've 'talked' with over the internet quite a bit over the past few years and who filmed the documentary on Lonnie Frisbee, which dealt with his life with sensitivity and honesty. It's a terrific film. I expect this one will be just as good or better. I have seen and heard Larry Norman a number of times and I know, from working in a venue where he performed, just why he might be considered a rebel, and a difficult individual. None-the-less, over all that time (since the early '70s) I have enjoyed his music and in his later years felt terrible about his health issues and kept him in my prayers time and again. I can hardly wait for this one to arrive. I couldn't wait for the distribution version with the extras, etc., so I ordered the 'Festival' version for now.

The 2nd film is The Gits. The Gits were a Seattle grunge band that was on the verge of breakthrough when the lead singer, Mia Zapata, was murdered. Her killer was found 11 years later and convicted of the murder. The music of The Gits, while very much grunge, was fresh and different. I enjoyed their music quite a bit. I think it would be difficult to find their CDs anywhere now, but they're likely available over the 'net. Anyway, a documentary has been filmed about the band, Mia Zapata, and the mystery and final resolution of her murder. This is the film I've ordered.

It seems like documentary week...
