Of course, when people think of gay priests they seem to think that, as gay men, they're in a state of constant sexual urge, while when they think of straight men they don't think that. It's a unfair impression, I think.
The priesthood may have moved to a higher percentage of gay priests after Vatican II, but that can only be blamed on the Church itself, and it's failure to support any of the priests in any meaningful way. It was, and continues to be in some ways, a very difficult time...
