And their comments certainly leave nothing to guesswork. The only thing I'm not sure I understand is why the Vatican apparatus is so quick to deal with 'liberals' making questionable statements but take a 'hands-off' approach when it's a conservative, and a rather high ranking one. One will argue that it's because the liberal voices are usually in the area of theology and this isn't, but truly, this will have more of an affect on the hoi-polloi than theological statements will, at least in the immediate sense...
