WWJD: How Would Jesus Handle the Financial Crisis?I've gotten more than a little tired of the WWJD tag, but it's pretty much gone now, seeing as it was only the flavour of the week a while ago, before the Prayer of Jabez and whatever is currently in vogue now in Evangelical Christian circles. Still, it's a good question.
Deciding to forgive those rapacious financial leaders who ruined the economy and still made personal fortunes is much like asking people to forgive the executives of Enron, who stole their life savings and pretty much got away with it. There are many examples, because we depend on our income to survive and live after work is over and so many corrupt people want our incomes and savings as well. But really, what would Jesus want us to do?

I don't know. There are some pretty fierce passages, especially in Matthew, about judgment and fire and wailing and gnashing of teeth. There's a famous statement about rich people, camels, and needles' eyes. There's "woe to you rich" in Luke. Jesus invited the rich to repent - sometimes ferociously and sometimes gently. He loved them. He didn't accept what they were doing.
Isn't that true. Love the sinner, hate the sin...
