One of my favourite entertainers,

Hoyt Axton, died on this date in 1999. He leaned to country-folk/rock himself, but his music was recorded by musicians of many genres.

Hoyt Axton

I first heard his music when I was introduced to it by a folksinger friend of mine. Then, in my work, years later, I met him and he gave me an autographed double album. A nice man, he did great music and put on a great show. He even acted a bit, for instance in WKRP in Cincinnati and Gremlins.

A great talent...
