Controversy?

Who Wrote The Dead Sea Scrolls?

There's been nothing but controversy surrounding the scrolls. Not just academic disputes regarding their origin, etc., but in the whole struggle for scholars to get access to them. That is a story in itself. I was a subscriber to Biblical Archaeological Review during the period that it's editor, Herschel Shanks, fought to get them published and the struggle was constantly documented in the periodical. There's nothing like watching academics guard their territory, even to the loss of history, education and our body of knowledge.
