Brazilian theologian says ex-bishop President-elect will apply liberation theology in Paraguay
One develops political programs and strategies based on a philosophy or theology, one does't 'apply' a theology. Besides, doctrinal 'errors' aren't errors in the political arena. Perhaps a 'preferential option for the poor' is something that is needed, politically, in Brazil. Now that he's not a priest and not involved in a theological debate he can use his theology to bring justice to the poor, something Christ talked about. Who better to be in politics than someone who truly cares for the poor?
Whenever someone proposes something that isn't preferential to capitalists it's labeled 'communist' immediately, but when did the church, nature, society or God decide or decree that capitalism is the only 'ism' that is right anyway? Capitalism has destroyed democracy in North America. Look at how lobbyists control the politicians in the U.S. and Canada. Why should anyone the god of this world?
(Sorry, got carried away there...)
