Quebec police promise proper investigation into shooting death

"Community demands public inquiry to answer why Fredy Villanueva was shot and killed by police"I was heartened to see the news of the family of the dead boy calling for calm and an end of the rioting. God bless and comfort all of those hurt by this tragedy, especially the family of that young man.
As a personal comment, without meaning any criticism of anyone, when there was a local incident of a person being shot (and not killed, thank the Lord) by the police when the person refused to stop advancing on the police officer with a knife, there was the usual cry from groups about 'over-reaction by the police', use of less force, etc., and, alas, the usual criticisms that this is how the police treat people of different race and colour, that white people didn't have this happen to them. One person responded that perhaps it was time for some of these groups who advocate different treatment to start trying to convince the people they represent to try to stop solving their problems by threatening people with knives. The incidence of 'white people' doing that was far less, so it didn't happen to 'them' the same way. It made some sense in the situation...
(Sorry. I'm off my soapbox now. I'm probably going to get responses calling me a bigot now. *sigh*)
