Will they go to heaven?

Will we meet our pets in heaven?

I've commented on this a number of times.

I like the image of God surrounded by dogs and cats, with a cat sleeping in His lap. Mind you, traditional Catholics would say that I'm not picturing God with enough reverence. You can't win...

I suppose that depends on whether we end up in heaven :-)

That's always the proviso, isn't it? Without a guarantee, either. I'm sure I won't be seeing any of our pets in the afterlife...

Now, if they are in heaven which I think is logical - they will be lobbying the heavenly authorities for you to join them there because you did such a good job keeping the food and water bowls looked after, providing a welcome lap and throwing tennis balls and sticks into the river for an enthusiastic retriever alas no longer wagging with us.

I am told that there is a belief in the Caribbean that if you are good to and love your animals, they will find a way of letting you know they well and give you comfort in your grief. I like the idea of meeting up with my beloved furry ones when my time comes to shuffle off this mortal coil.

Yes, Kate, I can very easily visualize a bunch of cats signing petitions, and holding purr ins..
