When I was young enough

to be called a 'youth', World Youth Day didn't exist.

Massive flood of youth makes pilgrimage to final WYD Mass

I'm disappointed at that. I think that it would have been a wonderful thing to experience. The young people I've spoken to or know who have attended one all speak of how wonderful it was and how it affected their faith journey and personal lives. The closest we ever got was during university days and the National Newman Conferences (at one of which I met my wife, which is a long story)...

It's a bit sad, when you get older, to look at things that aren't available now because you're "too old" and that weren't available when you weren't. Or at least I find it sad.

There's a cheery thought for the day :-)

It is sad. However, there isn't enough wealth in the world to make me even consider reliving my childhood and youth. I'm not sure I can find, anywhere in my memory, a happy time. There may have been some, but they elude me.

What I do find I wouldn't ever want to experience again.

Thanks for cheering me up. :-)
