Vatican bans Dan Brown film Angels & Demons from Rome churches
Mr. Brown's books, and, I suspect by extension, Mr. Brown himself, are not sympathetic to the Catholic Church nor to Christianity itself. Why aid the detractors?

by Banning those books, they ARE aiding them. You can't buy publicity like that. People tend to think that if the Vatican is paying that much attention, there must be something to them.
