Haircut Sparks Claims of Religious Persecution
They're probably hoping to avoid a lawsuit (as long as all the teachers are fired, the child disciplined, the school board replaced, the school torn down and $57,000,000.00 be given in reparation for pain and suffering. Or something like that. It's obvious persecution isn't it? And doesn't that have a price?)
Sorry. It's just so tiring. So many things that aren't issues become issues these days...

I have to grant this: the child was assaulted and the one who perpetrated this assault should have to bear the consequences of her actions. The school authorities should have acted upon this without having to be prodded. If the last two things had been implemented the situation likely would not have blown out of all proportion.
I remember oh.. about late 80's or so, a girl in a school -about 10 years old if memory serves, was being beaten by a boy in her class on a daily basis. It was called "ticking her arm" - being punched - hard - in the shoulder joint and he would not stop. The parents complained to the school to no avail: the school did nothing. Finally, as a last ditch effort, they called the police and placed a complaint against the boy in question. The police came and took the boy into custody.
What happened to the boy afterwards is unknown - likely nothing.
However, the story did make the news, and it was a wake up call to the school authorities.
Did the parents of the girl in question over react? I truly can't say that they did, as I feel that if the school authorities had acted when they should it would not have happened.
I would think that the police should have been called in for an assault. That would have prevented most of this other stuff from happening.
