Calgary woman becoming priest: Campaign for reform feels 'prophetic'

I sympathize with her. There were also reasons why I couldn't be ordained, and so I wasn't. Without wanting to start an argument here, the only point I'd like to make is that, despite all the acrimony regarding the 'hierarchy', if that hierarchy didn't develop over the centuries to what it is (and it is assumed that the Holy Spirit had a hand in it somehow) the Church would not be the body it currently is. It's somewhat akin to Judaism - without the rules it has had it wouldn't exist as it does. It is those rules, those structures, that have kept it alive and vital for a lot longer than groups without those rules or that hierarchy...
