On this date in 1925
Seymour Roger Cray
was born.
If you're not a geek it won't mean much to you, but Seymour Cray's company, Cray Research, built was was the first real 'super-computer', and continued to build many of them.
This is the kind of weirdness one comes to expect from the geek world:

"When he was told that Apple Computer had just bought a Cray to help design the next Apple Macintosh, Cray commented that he had just bought a Macintosh to design the next Cray."
