42 minutes?

Would You Go to Church if Services Were Shorter?

A 42-minute sermon in a Catholic church, or some other sacramental church that has regular liturgy, would be unthinkable. I once heard a priest, from an order whose ministry is preaching, say that if you couldn't say what you needed to say in 10 minutes during a homily you shouldn't be preaching. Longer preaching was for different occasions, not for Mass. Also, any thought that attention spans aren't what they once were, while legitimate, (think the 'sound byte' generation), wouldn't apply here, I don't think. Most people didn't pay attention the whole time 'back then' either. Still, if we're not educating people in their faith in any other way, what do we do?
