Silent Servants...

... of the Used, Abused, and Utterly Screwed Up.

A Secular Franciscan looks at the world...
with a more jaundiced eye than ever...
and lots of ellipses for you to fill in the missing text...

I've been feeling a need for this:

A day of rest enters the Digital Age

"A nonprofit Jewish group encourages people to unplug from their electronics once a week. There's even an app for it."
That's the main reason I only have one post on Sunday, and even that is something I get ready on Saturday...

Here's the Sabbath Manifesto. (Even though we have different ideas of what the Sabbath is, the idea is the same...)

And for those who don't want to, or can't, follow the links above, here's the ten principles:

  1. Avoid technology.
  2. Connect with loved ones.
  3. Nurture your health.
  4. Get outside.
  5. Avoid commerce.
  6. Light candles.
  7. Drink wine.
  8. Eat bread.
  9. Find silence.
  10. Give back.

I think they're things we all can use...
