Ummmm... sorry?!?

My apologies for the last few days. SWMBO and I were getting ready to host our Parish Pastoral Council (of which we are both members) at our year end barbeque. There was a lot of prep work for it, lots of shopping, cleaning, setup, etc., and the blog entries just got away from me. As you can see, the civilization (of sorts) still stands, things are as they were, atrocities occur daily, and I remain a sinner, not a saint. Life continues, the world goes around.

The bbq was a resounding success. I pre-cooked the chicken kabobs on the bbq, SWMBO got the veggies pre-cooked in the oven, we made all the usual preparations regarding chairs, tables, etc., and everything was ready when the first guest arrived. Fr. Jon, our pastor, agreed to officiate at the barbeque itself, cooking the hamburgers and hot dogs to perfection. People brought their own beverages, which we were the grateful recipients of the leftovers (Thanks, everyone!) and some wonderful salads, and the rest of the evening was just relaxed, gentle conversation and visiting. A nice departure from the tone of the meetings we have each month.

A lot of people were quite taken with the cat condo/porch/container/whatever, as well as the pond (which is enjoying a surfeit of water this year, but remains exceptionally clean), so the comments they made were quite gratifying. I'm not a carpenter, and anything I build is quite primitive, shall we say, so any positive comments on the structure and cat run are quite uplifting.

Now, the work of cleaning the yard, house, studio, etc. begins in earnest. No more excuses that there's something else to get ready for...
