that is a pretty interesting review of "Into Great Silence".

The Grande Chartreuse: Keeping the faith quietly

The writer is a non-Catholic, and so the article is coloured by that, but it's not bad, none-the-less. While his desire for solitude (of a temporary nature) is admirable, a non-religious monastery seems impossible - what would be the glue that would hold it together?
