Civilization and Culture at War

There's a war going on, and it's dangerous out there...

Now, America, according to Oscar Wilde, though not talking about culture directly, said:

"America is the only country that went from barbarism to decadence without civilization in between."

As both barbarism and decadence denote a lack of culture, and if we believe Wilde that there's no civilization to be found there, this would make America immune from the war...

Nah. Forget I said that.
