I did it

I found a great deal on a Netbook computer, and I bought it. A computer that is finally small enough to carry around and use realistically, rather than only to a certain utility like a smartphone or iPod Touch. It has a real keyboard, wireless connectivity and somewhat crippled software that I can upgrade. Alas, it's not made by Apple.

It's an HP. They've made some great printers that I've owned, in fact, our favourite printer of all time, the most practical and trouble-free printer, with the best print quality, was an HP. I don't worry too much about the quality of it.

Alas, Apple doesn't make an equivalent. I have an Apple notebook already, and I love it, but it's too big to carry about with me on a day-to-day basis. The smallest Apple computer is an Airbook, but the price is way out there, so this will have to do. It seems to work fine, though getting it connected to my home network wirelessly isn't working. I'll have to get in touch with the techies and figure out the problem.

Another thing is the font they've used in the printed and online descriptions. A sample is at the top of this post. It didn't influence my purchase, I have too much computer experience to let that happen - it was features and brand name I was after - but doesn't the font they use have a Tim Burton-ish look to it? I just think that's so way cool. Using fun to sell a computer, now when everything is trying to be so cool and this is the antithesis of cool. To most people. To me, put Tim Burton's name on it (usually along with Johnny Depp) and I'm likely to take a closer look at it.

Anyway, there 'tis. I feel somewhat awkward moving away from Apple this way, but I was looking for something more useful than entertaining, and the Apple Apps from the iTunes store just don't do it for me, for the most part. I still love their hardware, and will probably get an iPad at some point, but for now this is most practical and useful. I'm really happy with the purchase...
