I've been hearing

a fair amount of American political commentary lately. I find myself quite amused. Of course, being a blog focusing on religious news items first, a lot of the commentary from the religious blogs I've read (which are generally quite conservative) have been very critical. The words 'socialist' and 'communist' keep coming up in regards to President Obama, but I have yet to see him do anything that could qualify him for such a title. It seems to be the usual fear-mongering. Still, the criticism is very harsh.

What amuses me the most is the blindness of the commentators based on their political affiliation. I heard very little criticism of Bush, Jr. during his 8 years of driving the U.S. into the worst debt situation they have ever been in, while getting the country into wars that see no end and driving the debt even higher, and setting up financial policies that allowed Wall St. and the banks to rape and pillage to their hearts content. Nope. That seems to have been alright.

Now comes the Democrat President, and, seeing as he's unable to wrest control of the deficit and get the troops home and get all these years of Republican over-spending fixed in a year, well, he's incompetent, and so are his plans and his government and his helpers. Yes, sir.

I can never figure out the electorate. I guess that's why I have so little respect for them.
