Here's the following (and spot on) paragraph...

"Or maybe there isn't. Catcher was a product of the postwar period, when people were serious. Catcher might be too intelligent for today's Gossip Girl-pop-prep-school ethos."
Exactly! Every young one who came out of the movie, filmed sensitively to the book, would be scratching their heads saying "Huh, dude?" Of course, Hollywood may change the story, fill it with half-naked cheerleaders, and make it a hit. Who knows? They've turned a lot of gold into dreck in the past...
