What a wonderful way

to finish off the year and the decade! After I arrived at work today a co-worker came in and told me to come outside to see something great. I put my coat on and followed him, to see a snowy owl perched on the corner of our building! It was a large one, beautiful and white. We watched it for a while, turning its head and blinking at us - it was very obviously aware of us - until it flew away to another building on the street. Its wingspan was incredible - 4 or 5 feet - and it flew so easily and gracefully.

A nice way to end 2009. I'm so glad I saw it. It is such a rare thing to see one in the city, and I feel privileged to have seen it...
