Of course, BAR and its editor are kind of the 'bad boys' of biblical archaeological research. Not because they've been wrong, or dishonest or anything, simply because they've been trying to call academics to account for their behaviour, etc., and that's not appreciated in the academic world. They're more like gadflies, I guess (and that's a good thing)...
