Mr. McDonald was an old friend of my father's, both serving in different areas of protective services. He was a very active member of the Knights of Columbus as well as his parish. His faith was a living thing to him. He was also handy with everything, able to fix pretty much anything. His generation was so good at that sort of thing, and he was better than many. He was a courageous firefighter and a thoughtful man. I admired his greatly. In his later years I could count on seeing him in church every day, and looked forward to visiting with him whenever I saw him. When I last went to visit him at home he was still mobile, though not as able as he had been in the past - age was catching up with him. Like every good, holy person, I expect he's smiling with the saints right now, in the presence of our God.
Requiescat in Pacem, Mr. McDonald, and rest in the light of the love of Christ.
