I watched one, anyway...

The dvd arrived -
Fallen Angel: the Outlaw Larry Norman.

It was... good, I think. There were a few problems. Editing was a bit loose, I think, but, as they've said, it's a festival copy and not the release copy, so some changes will be made.

It was quite one-sided, but that's to be expected when no one from the Norman family would agree to be interviewed. There was no way to tell it from his perspective. So, really, it's not the filmmaker's fault.

The film turned out to be about Larry Norman from the perspective of people close to him throughout his professional life. It was fair, in that regard. Personally, I had often wondered why Larry Norman had become derailed in his later years, his health notwithstanding. I think the film answers this to a great degree. His later CD releases were really just rehashes of old songs or unreleased versions of things already released. For some reason his muse had departed, and I often wondered why. I think the film explains that a bit.

I have to admit a deep sympathy for him. Despite the antics which I saw him put our staff though in the local venue he played a few times (and the resentment and anger that he caused as a result), I know that his health must have been a terrible burden for him to deal with, and all that that entails. I pray for his happiness in Heaven...
