The Chunnel is done

The title of this post will make no sense if you aren't imbued with a sense of humour like SWMBO and I, and you haven't been around our place lately. Suffice to say, an above-ground tunnnel, actually, a cat run, has been installed for our large-ish family of felines to allow them to go in and out themselves to their gazebo, which we call 'the porch' (which takes even more explanation). We named it after the tunnel, under the English Channel, from England to France.

I've spent two full days fighting with lumber, screws, chicken wire, plywood, indoor-outdoor carpeting and pond liner to create a monstrosity in the back yard. SWMBO says it'll look ok when the wines and plants start growing up around it. Yeah, they'll hide it somewhat. I'm not a carpenter by any means. I do know what end of a hammer to hold, though. And there were no injuries reported, other than the usual 'getting chopped to ribbons by the chicken wire' variety. If I never have to work with that stuff again it'll be too soon.

Now all we have to wait for is for our brilliant cats (I'll let you decide if I'm being sarcastic here) to figure out how the little cat door works so that they can go in and out by themselves. The problem is that we've been using 'the porch' for about a year now and we've had to take them out to it, so they're used to that. Isn't that what servants are for?

Ah, well... Just a it more time and all will be well...
