Another reason

that you can't dance during the Mass is that what is known as 'Liturgical Dance', in my experience, can only be called that in the broadest possible sense. I'm not at all certain that it can be called 'dance', let alone 'liturgical'...

Dance at Mass?

On the one hand you have the liturgical purists who say that only the greatest sense of awe and majesty is to be expressed, and that in a quiet, reverential way, and then you have the more enthusiastic liturgists who will point to David dancing before the Lord and the call to worship God with timbrel, harp, dance, etc. Has it been revealed to us that no sense of joyful exuberance is to be expressed in our love and worship of the Lord? It would seem so...
