I get the image

of an army of men walking around with feather dusters and kerchiefs, like any book or film that includes someone taking care of an old parish church in England...

Cleaning St. Peter's no easy feat

That's an incredible job to do!

"Whether the job is reminding visitors to doff their baseball caps"
I just can't understand our contemporary culture. There's just no concept of respect as part of it anymore. I've seen men sit all through Mass with their baseball caps on. (When they do it in a restaurant I'm in I'm tempted to ask a waitress to tell them to take them off. The only place I don't do it is in cowboy country. It's worth your life to ask a cowboy to remove his cowboy hat. Sometimes I think these people must have their hats sutured to their heads...)
