Pope cancels visit because of protests
I can't say I blame him. While the threat of loud rock music is bad enough, there are just enough loons in the world to really cause it to be unsafe for him. I'm not sure what they mean when they talk about "Benedict's "obscurantist" stand on science in general and the Church's treatment of Galileo as a heretic in particular" I don't remember any recent anti-science statements by the Pope and certainly, the treatment of Galileo was awful (though one must remember the time) but the Church has already apologized. What do they want, a cash settlement for every scientist in the world?
