A Secular Franciscan looks at the world... with a more jaundiced eye than ever... and lots of ellipses for you to fill in the missing text... (with thanks to Thomas S. Klise for the title)
heh.. this is just a pet peeve of mine, maybe I am a bit thin skinned, but I don't like the idea that just because I never had children that I have no family. Or that Dan and I are not a "family" for that same reason. I do have a family, I have a husband, sisters, cousins, not to mention my "family of choice" and my "four footed" family. Not having "children" does not make one any less than or not part of a "family"
You're not alone in your pet peevishness, Morganor. I've always felt a bit left out in my chosen Church due to its constant focus on family. I still take every opportunity in Church gatherings and discussion groups to lobby for all those of us who don't fit into society's traditional definition of 'family'. I expect some sort of change in, oh, about 1,000 years. But I'm optimistic.
