Catholic Democrats chide Pope based on wrong information, says Catholic League

While I'm aware, and can accept, that people disagree with the Pope (and that's their right), for politicians to say that the Church can't do anything to sanction them for political actions is just plain dumb (but we're talking U.S. Democrats, here. Not that I'm a Republican, either, by-the-way.). Do they mean to imply that the Church should never try to excommunicate a war criminal, say, who did all his actions under the guise of politics? How unusual. To say that the Church's actions come in conflict with the American constitution is just plain dumb. As if the American constitution trumps everything, everywhere.
